MISSION STATEMENT
To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.
WHAT IS THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB?
A place that is a safe and fun-filled alternative to the streets.
- A place to go after school before a parent arrives home from work.
- A place where a child can be a child while learning to understand oneself and others.
- A place where a child can feel he/she is important, belongs and is a part of something good.
- A place that provides physical fitness, health and athletic programs.
- A place that provides vocational classes along with arts and crafts to develop skills and talents.
- A place that provides leadership development and decision making responsibilities.
WHAT ARE OUR CORE PROGRAMS?
Based on physical, emotional, cultural and social needs and interests
of girls and boys, and recognizing development principles, Clubs
offer diversified program activities in five areas:
- Character and Leadership Development
- Education and Career Development
- Health & Life Skills
- The Arts
- Sports, Fitness and Recreation
MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
A yearly non-refundable membership fee of $30 is required of all
program participants. These fees allow youth access to the Club
during Club hours to participate in a variety of classes, programs,
and special events. In addition to an accessible games room and
gym open for a game of pool or to shoot some hoops, the Club offers
a variety of activities to provide your child with a great time.
Youth also have access to the Education center where they learn
about computers, get help with homework, read, and more. Membership
fees are renewable one year from date of purchase. A membership
card and welcome packet are available for pickup at Kirkland Boys
and Girls Club.
DROP-IN POLICY
Children, ages 6-18, are welcomed and supervised in the facility on terms of safety and citizenship. Our staff does not grant permission to kids to leave the Club, nor do we insist that they stay. The decision as to when a child arrives and leaves the Club, and with whom they do this is a matter handled between parent and child. Children not mature enough to capably handle this responsibility should have the close supervision of other, more appropriate programs.
At the Boys & Girls Club We:
- Cooperate with staff & others
- Act responsibly & safely
- Respect ourselves, others, and the Club
- Encourage each other and follow the Code of Conduct
Code of Conduct:
- Be Honest/Act Honestly
- Follow Club Rules
- Behave in a respectful manner to each other, club staff, volunteers, and visitors
- Respect all property belonging to you, other people, and the Club
- Model respect, fairness, kindness, and trust
- Recognize and focus on effort, positive behavior, and excellence
- Honor differences
Because we value each and every member, we would be doing our members' a great disservice to ignore or excuse the following behaviors:
- Fighting with another member, staff person, volunteer or parent
- Physical endangerment- use of drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, tobacco products.
- Destruction or theft of club property or other members property.
- Racial or sexual harassment (including inappropriate physical contact).
- Bringing or using weapons at the club: guns, knives, sling shots, etc.
- Repeated violations of general expectations and rules or chronic behavior not changed by prior consequences.
If a member chooses to engage in any of these behaviors, they will
be immediately suspended (1-5 days or possibly indefinitely). Depending
on the severity of the behavior, police or 911 will be called.
