Make a Difference for a little over a $1 per Day
You can make a difference for only a little more than a dollar
each day. The Kirkland Branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of
King County serve more than 2,500 youths each year. A donation
of just $450 sponsors one child for a full year of programs, giving
that child a positive alternative and a place where she or he
can become a productive, responsible and caring citizen.

Hotel in downtown Seattle. Bigger and better than last year, this
event is can hold up to fifteen-hundred corporate, community and
business leaders.

a day! There are over 2,500 youth in the Kirkland community who
will receive the benefit of your investment. You can help provide
a positive place for kids for only $450 per child, per year or
$225 for six months.

Summer Dreams Auction
May 31st, 2008
"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." - Eleanor Roosevelt.
Our 2,500 youths have dreams too. Here at the club, we encourage
them to "dream the dreams that have never been dreamt."
Help make the childrens' dreams reality by supporting our 15th
Summer Dreams Auction, held on May 31,2008, at the Redmond Town
Center Marriott. Mark your calendars that Saturday night for an
evening of fun. What could be better than supporting your community
by bidding on our wide range of attractive live and silent items?
Children in our community deserve the best programming and services available and the Club relies on our success at these special events to support youths and families in need. All proceeds from the Summer Dreams Auction go directly to benefiting the youths at the club with activities such as:
- Fun-filled summer camps
- Sports Programs
- Arts Classes
- Science & Tech labs
- And much more
Thank you to our generous Presenting Sponsor Evergreen Healthcare
who has already helped us move closer to our goal of raising $150,000
for kids. We hope you can join us and be a part of the fun!
Come as a guest! The event is going to be a party! Music, food, and fun! Tickets will be available in early spring for purchase online at www.onepositiveplace.org, at the Kirkland Boys & Girls Club, or if you email us with your address, we can send you an invitation.
Donate an item or your time to help solicit items! The auction
committee is looking for volunteers to help with the procurement
of items and the event setup. Volunteers may commit any number
of hours per month on various event setup activities. Event committee
jobs include helping to solicit items for the auction, recruiting
key community leaders/donors to the auction, and helping to create
decorations and props for each event. Call or email Brooke Eglin
at 425-827-0132.
Make a cash donation! The auction is always in need of last-minute
cash for airline tickets, car rentals, and other add-ons to make
a package complete. Any donation is a great help! Click

Don James Golf Classic
Friday, September 12, 2008
The 15th annual Don James Golf Classic Presented by Cobalt Mortgage
will be held on September 12, 2008 at the Golf Club at Newcastle.
Last year, with support from our friends at Cobalt Mortgage ,
the Kirkland Boys and Girls Club, which raised more than $90,000
for our youth, was able to make the 14th Annual Don James Classic
its biggest year ever! There were 36 hole sponsors, 2 media sponsors
and of course our presenting sponsor Cobalt Mortgage.
The tournament was supported by 240 golfers who, in addition to
playing a full 18-holes, participated in long drive, closest to
pin and scramble contests.
The evening began with Dave 'Softy' Mahler of KJR Radio thanking
the audience for their participation. Presentations were made
by Golf Chair John Warnick. The event ended on a high note after
a cocktail hour, dinner reception and an auction. There were 25
unique live auction items and dozens of silent items.
This year's event is again supported by Cobalt Mortgage . Our
charitable friend has generously agreed to sponsor at the Presenting
Sponsor level for a 6th year in a row. Contact their friendly
team of leading mortgage professionals uniquely focused on delivering
a lending experience unparalleled in today's market for information
about attractive mortgage rates and let them help you achieve
your financial goals.

Make a Difference-Leave a Legacy
Planned Gifts
You can contribute to the Clubs through a variety of giving arrangements called planned gifts-all of which may enhance your estate and financial plans. These gifts may reduce income and estate taxes and, when contributing appreciated property, allow you to avoid capital gains taxes.
Include Your Club in Your Will
You can remember the Kirkland Boys & Girls Clubs in your will or as a beneficiary of a trust or retirement plan. Several types of gifts can provide income for life to you and your beneficiaries. You can make an outright gift of cash or appreciated property such as stock or real estate. You can also use charitable gift annuities and life insurance. Your legacy will continue on, and you will continue to be recognized as a contributor to the Boys & Girls Clubs through donor wall plaques, building dedications, and annual reports. Other recognition vehicles are also available.
For more information on how you can continue to make a difference in the lives of kids, contact Doug Wozeniak at 425-827-0132.
Memorials and Honor Gifts
Show your affection and admiration for family members and friends or to honor the memory of a departed person in lieu of flowers by donating to the Kirkland Boys & Girls Clubs. Donations may also be made to honor someone for a birthday, anniversary, recuperation, or holiday. Cards acknowledging your gifts are sent to you and the family members or friends of the person whom you are honoring or memorializing. A memorial wall plaque recognizes those individuals who have been paid special tribute by friends and loved ones.
Major Gifts
Individuals, foundations, corporations, and organizations play an important role in supporting the Club's mission by giving major gifts. Major gifts can be used by giving to capital campaigns, building projects, seed money for new programs, equipment, endowment, or general operating funds. There are many ways to support the Kirkland Boys & Girls Clubs so that your contribution is the most meaningful to you.

Corporate and Foundation Philanthropy
Over their history, the Kirkland Boys & Girls Club has been sustained in large measure not only by individual gifts, but also by corporations and private family foundations acting out of charitable, humanitarian motivations. This support may come in the form of general funding, which allows our clubs to direct the money where it determines the need is greatest, or it may be designated for a particular program, capital campaign, or project in which the funder has an interest.
For any questions regarding how you can help your club today or in the future, do not hesitate to contact us.
